IF you have ever been unable to compete because of expensive travel … NOW is your time! We are proud to present the first ever Bronner Bros. International Virtual Beauty Show Barbering Design Competition. As the headlining distributor of the best cutting equipment in the industry, we have partnered with ANDIS once again. They have sent care packages for all of the competitors in this competition. ANDIS is also in search of a Leading Barber to represent the Trending styles of 2021.
This competition will allow the Barbers to showcase their Unique cutting visions for the Industry. Forty-five minutes of New shapes, new textures, new colors, and new styles are to be displayed for this creative audience to view live and possibly streaming online. These winners will have their designs displayed in Social Media, our BB Show Guide, and our Bronnerbros.com website. Keep in mind that Many styling teams may be looking for their next platform artist to join their virtual team. It is a TOTAL LOOK “DESIGN” competition intended to display a complete and total look of the modern man from hair tips to shoe soles! Be a part of the FIRST EVER Virtual Beauty Show! BARBERING DESIGN COMPETITION
This is a virtual competition. This competition will be executed via Zoom.
RULES & REGULATIONS
PLEASE NOTE: Inspecting your work before completion, to correct symmetry, is vital. This video and your photo uploads is the most our judges will see. Design Lines will have NO EFFECT if not executed well. And choosing the right model is critical to the end result. Please consider the skin of the head and face as a canvas for your artistic work. This virtual competition will rely solely on the visual aspect of your completed work. Make it the Best you can.
- The competition is open to licensed Barbers only. (Male and Female Barbers)
- This is a total look men’s design and haircut competition. You are expected to create a personally themed design AND complete hair cut AND head-to-toe fashion look (the attire must compliment the hairstyle).
- You will compete via Zoom on September 11, 2020 at 10am EST. You will be judged on the hair cut design and execution of the theme you choose (if a theme is not provided). This Zoom video will be compiled and displayed on September 27, 2020 for the virtual competition.
- All designs cut into the hair must be done completely during the 45 minutes allotted for the competition. If no sponsor is assigned, you are allowed to use the tools you have on hand and our editing team will blur the names of the equipment.
- Please cover all non Bronner Brothers branded products with masking tape or duct tape. (This includes: Disinfectants, hand sanitizers, hair sprays, spritz, sheen. oil sheen, neck strip brands, edge control, clippers, etc)
**If it is your own personal brand, it may be used, however, please specify your brand name, check appropriate boxes and sign appropriate forms during the registration process or your products will be blurred as well. - All competition models are requested to be 18 or older or have the parents of the minor complete the waiver form in the confirmation email in the link provided for models.
- The prejudging and test video will be performed September 9, 2020 via zoom. Please make sure your model is a hairy canvas, No edging or pre-cutting of the head or beard is allowed.
- Models must be dressed in appropriate attire to reflect the mood of the theme and hair creation. Please start your video with your model fully DRESSED.
- All coloring and chemical processes MUST be completed prior to the recording of the video.
- You will be required to submit 4 before photos with your video upload. (Front, Right side, left side, and rear. Details are in confirmation email.)
- No Wigs or weaves (sewn, taped, pinned or bonded) are allowed!
- No grotesque – No horror – No Monsters!
- No clipper or razor pre-work may be done on the model before the competition. [This means: If your model is a regular client and gets his haircut weekly, he has to have at least 2-3 weeks of visible stubble at the hairline, temple area, beard and side burn areas. All cutting, including the basic haircut, MUST be done on camera. The starting point of the head and face is to be a “Hairy Canvas”.] (Pre-judging will be performed and points will be deducted for infractions to the rules).
- No PRE-CUTTING of the face, head or hair is allowed in any way prior to competition.
- Competitors are required to ONLY use Sponsorship equipment.You will be disqualified. Competitors using electric cutting tools other than Sponsorship Company’s equipment during the video taping will be disqualified. No other manufacturer’s clippers or personal clippers will be allowed on the competition camera. If other equipment is discovered during the competition, your scores will be disqualified and your video will be shut off. (Explanation: The sponsor of this competition and has the rights to FULL Marketing of the premier product that they are marketing for this show. The company wishes to showcase the abilities of these tools through your excellent expertise on video as a Marketing promotion.) This Competition is currently SPONSORED by ANDIS.
- Competitors are permitted to use combs, brushes, liquid styling tools, and color pencils of their choosing to create their finished look during the competition.
- There is a limit of 18 competitors for this competition.
- Competitors are required to remove at least 1/2 inch of hair off the entire head during the competition as to satisfy the requirement of executing a FULL Barbering HAIRCUT on camera during the competition time frame.
- Contestants will be judged on the following: Technical execution of styles. Design clarity, shading, Originality, Suitability and head contour, and New Ideas.
- Competitors are required to submit 4 before photos (Front, rear, left right) of the model and 5 (full body front, up close: front, rear, left right) post photos.
- All Participants (contestants and models) must sign a waivers and photo release forms.
- All models, hair stylists, fashion coordinators and photographers have to fill out forms and waivers HERE.
- All competitors will receive (by mail) a gift from ANDIS as a part of their competition kit. The tool is yours to keep following the competition. Tool package valued at over $175.00. Competitors are allowed to use ONLY the electrical cutting equipment provided by ANDIS. Competitors can adjust their blades of the clippers provided if they are able to perform this task in the given set-up time. There will not be any extra time given for blade adjustments, nor will the start of the competition be delayed for this reason.
- AFTER WINNING THE COMPETITION, the contestant agrees to abide by the final decision of the judges. All winners must complete winning forms. If this paperwork is incomplete, you may significantly delay or in some cases forfeit your payment in full if you place or win the competition.
- Bronner Brothers and the Sponsors reserve the right to cancel the competition if a minimum amount of competitors is not met. This competition requires 9 competitors in order for the competition to take place.
This is a virtual competition. It will be presented via Zoom. However, the time frame and the rules and regulations MUST still be followed.
For the ZOOM video —
DO’s:
- Have a very stable internet connection.
- Use your Cell phone (not a laptop, desktop or iPad)
- Use a 10” (inch) or larger RING light – white lighting only
- Use a holding tripod- no holding with the hand or propping)
- Must be recorded in landscape
- Use rear camera
- Video done from hip level up next to or behind your styling chair
Height of ring camera or tripod stand (adjusted to 35 inches)
Distance from salon chair (29 inches)
—Please do a test video to ensure that you and your model are clearly seen from the distance chosen.— waist high for stylist- shoulder high for model- make sure your model has on a cape.
DON’T’s:
- DO NOT film with a mirror or window in the frame behind you in the daytime.
a. If needed, Reposition the camera to be at an angle to not include the mirror (it will reflect the light coming from the window and wash out your video) - If being assisted and not using a stationery tripod, use/purchase a handheld tripod to increase stabilization.
- DO NOT film without proper lighting
- So that you can be unmasked, try to use a family member or someone that lives in your household as your model. Otherwise, please stay safe and mask up.
FYI: In past Beauty Shows, competitors that chose to disregard any rule had significant point reduction and severely decreased their opportunity to win the competition.
